Different Types Of Hair Extensions & Installation Methods

When searching for a right type of hair extensions, you will find there are so many options out there, it’s very easy for you to get confused. How do you know what extensions would meet your demands perfectly? The first step is to figure out whether you want temporary or permanent hair extensions and make sure you like the according installation type. In this blog, we are going to introduce eight different hair extensions. Some of them are temporary hair extensions, some of them permanent.

Temporary Hair Extensions

Temporary hair extensions are easy to install and can be attached in 1-10 minutes. Women mostly use this type of hair extensions for special occasions and can take them off any time after the occasion.

Temporary hair extensions include:Clip-in Hair Extensions, Flip-In Hair Extensions, Magic Ponytail Hair Extension

Permanent Hair Extensions

Permanent hair extensions can usually last from 5 weeks to 8 months, you don’t have to remove them at night like temporary hair extensions do. We can use a variety of methods to attach these extensions, like Keratin, Sew, Glue, and more.

Permanent hair extensions include:Tape-In Hair Extensions, Micro-Ring Hair Extension,Pre-Bonded Hair Extensions, Nano Ring Hair Extensions, Microchet Hair Extensions

Clip-in hair extensions is perfect for a quick Do-It-Yourself hair transformation. They are easy to attach and can be perfectly matched with your own hair – giving you longer hair, lowlights, highlights, or added volume.
All clip–in hair extensions come in one or multiple pieces (wefts) of varying widths. These extensions can be clipped–in or out in minutes and are virtually undetectable. Just Do it yourself “clip-in” extensions save you time and money! It’s quick and easy!
Tape in hair extensions are among the newest hair extension trend on the market. This method is 100% natural, requires no tools or chemicals, and lasts up to three months – and the hair is reusable!
Tape in hair extensions are thin tape wefts, 1 inch wide pre-taped hair wefts, that get “taped-in” in between your own hair in “sandwich” like bonds. The biggest mistake people often make is incorrectly applying or removing tape-in hair extensions on their own at home. The application is hard to get right, especially without help. So you are highly suggested to get yourself a professional hair stylist to help you finish the installation.
Micro-ring hair extensions (ring loop hair extensions), loop hair extension or micro-loop hair extensions. It’s a type of hair extension attached by threading sections of natural hair through small loops to hold each extension securely in place.
They are not applied with glues or bonding adhesives that can potentially cause hair breakage or even allergic reactions in some clients. Micro-ring hair extensions also do not require the use of hot flat irons that can also damage natural strands.
Pre-Boded hair extensions (bonding or pre-bonded) are fused to natural hair using different adhesives such as glue. It should be applied by a hairdresser.
The application involves a tool that looks like a hot glue gun, which essentially glues the hair to individual strands of the natural hair. Another type of application for pre-bonded hair extensions uses a heat clamp to melt the glue to the natural hair.
Nano ring hair extensions are an amazing method, especially for those with finer hair. The process of fitting nano ring hair extensions involves placing individual strands to small sections of hair, and securing them with a metal nano ring. The nano ring itself (as the name suggests) is tiny and 90% smaller than a traditional micro ring, which is why it is often more suitable for those with finer hair.
The main advantage of the nano ring hair extension is that its bonds are incredibly tiny, resulting in being crowned one of the smallest bonds available. They are also available in a variety of colours, making it easier to match them to the root colour they are being fixed too.
Flip-in hair extensions are 2-in-one hair extensions which come with an invisible & removable wire and several removable clips.
Flip-in hair extensions can be used as a halo hair extension or as a clip-in hair extension for extra volume. The adjustable wire and the magic clips are innovative that can make your flip-in hair extensions very convenient to use.
Microchet hair extensions are perfect for a professional and permanent hair extension installation.
They ensure a long wearing period, a secure hold and a very pleasant wearing comfort!

Magic Ponytail Hair Extensions are quite simple to apply. They either cover your natural short hair, turning them into a long mane or blend-in with your natural tresses to complete perfection.

Taking less than 1 minute to fit and only 1 second to remove, the magic ponytail hair extension is the shortest way to gorgeous, sophisticated long locks!

Which Texture of Hair Extensions Should You Get?

The question may have slipped your mind, which texture of hair extensions suits me best? We’ve prepared the integrated answer for you. There are many texture choices for you, generally speaking, there are three main types: straight hair, wavy hair and curly hair. And how to choose the right texture? It depends on your hair style or what hair style you want, our suggestion is to pick the most similar texture to your current hair texture. Since it would be easier for you to blend your existing hair with your hair extension. Of course, you can also choose the hair extension of any texture and then do it all over again. However, this can be a bit of hassle, but it works well.

1. Straight hair extensions texture    Straight hair is simple, pure, easy to maintain and you can do any styling on the basis of straight hair. If you already have straight hair and love the style, choose a straight hair texture. For curly or wavy clients, straight hair extensions can also be a good choice. Some customers choose to style their own hair to match the sleek and shiny hair. While others serve the straight hair extension texture as a foil to curl and style the hair similar to their natural or desired style.
  2. Wavy hair extensions texture Wavy hair is feminine and mature. Choose wavy hair extensions you have to prepare a curling iron to keep you hairdo and blend your existing hair with your hair extension. It may take some time, but it’s worth it.

What are the different types of hair for hair extensions?

The first decision you should make before shopping for hair extensions is that weather you want human hair extensions or synthetic hair extensions. 95% hair extensions on the market are either made with human hair or synthetic hair. The greatest advantage of synthetic hair extensions is that they are much cheaper than human hair extensions. While the quality, versatility and longevity of human hair extensions is much better than synthetic hairs, so if you are not worried about the budget, go for human hairs, you won’t be let down! In this blog, we are going to talk about three different types of human hair for hair extensions, they are virgin human hair, remy human hair, and non-remy humen hair. Virgin human hair > Remy human hair > Non-Remy human hair
www.lilyhair.com (6)
Virgin human hair
100% full-cuticle virgin human hair is considered to be the finest quality of human hair. Virgin hair is much better than remy hair, it has to be 100% pure.It cannot have gone through any kind of chemical processing, so this hair before the factory purchases it, it has not been permed, colored treated, dyed, bleached, blow-dried, steam treated or gone through any other chemical processing. It’s from one single donor so each bundle you buy should from the same donor. This is has not been exposed to any kinds of harsh agents and the cuticles all still have to be intact and running the same direction. If these things are not so, this is not 100% virgin hair. Niawigs headband wigs use real virgin human hair.

Remy human hair
Hair that has been cut, and maintained with the roots aligned and bound together at the top of the bundle. These bundles are carefully preserved throughout the export process and arrive at the factory still intact.
Non-Remy human hair

Hair that does not have its roots aligned. It may have been collected off the floor, or there may be some other reason they were unable to keep the roots together and running in the same direction. This hair is sold at a much cheaper price than remy hair.

Once the hair arrives at the factory, it is treated in a hydrochloric acid bath to remove the cuticle. Non-remy hair requires a higher concentration of acid since the cuticle runs in both directions. This frequently results in hair with very low moisture content that appears dry and straw-like. We have to understand that non-cuticle human hair means hair that has been fundamentally damaged.

How to Maintain Your Hair Extensions?

A regular care and attention can make your hair extensions last for over a year, so this is also a very momentous point. Most of the time we just need to treat it like our own hair. Here are some tips on how to maintain our hair extensions. Wash your hair after hair extensions as often as you would normally, since wash your hair too frequently will get them damaged fast. You need to deep condition your tresses every week. This is because the tresses have no natural oils, so the natural based products with oil play an important role. It will keep them soft and healthy.
hair extensions guide
Tangles are a chore. Braid your hair simply or even hold it in a simple bun. This helps to prevent the weave from getting all knotted up. In addition, do not even think about going to bed with a wet weave. By daylight, prepare a soft bristle, then you can brush it from time to time.
You need to set up regular appointments with your salonist. This is so that they can care for the weave and ensure that it is in good condition. You will need to go in once in a while, and according to normal hair growth cycle, once a month will be appropriate.
Ensure that you keep the weave well when you are not using it. You can keep it in the original box that it came in. This way, it will be protected from dust and insects. Then before you store it, you have to brush it up and detangle it. Use a wide toothed comb to brush it. Everyone’s hair is different. It’s always a good idea to make sure your real hair is healthy and the double drawn hair blends well with it. Keep a lookout for products that work best with your extensions and take note of the times that they need to be washed. As with natural hair, you can reduce the damage of your double drawn hair by not over-washing or over-styling.

About Hair Extension Grades

We are been in the profession hair extension industry, and we can say it responsibly that there is no such thing as hair extension grades. Actually, no one idle will go to rate the hair a  grade. It is just a marketing ploy and the suppliers use it ambiguously label their products in a way that expresses-often-deceptively-quality. Since these grades are unregulated and without actual quality standards, ratings such as AAAAA+, 7A or 10A doesn’t mean anything.
The only one you need to care about is whether the hair extensions are genuine virgin and don’t worry about it if you buy the hair extensions on our LilyHair.

FAQ

1. Do Hair Extension Shed or Tangle?
Like our own hair, extensions are going to shed and tangle. Daily maintenance is of great important and it can minimize shedding and tangles. At the very least, Lilyhair products have a one-year warranty.

2. Can I Dye the Hair Extension?
Of course you can, but try to do it only once. Especially those that have faded before, dyeing your extension an additional time will cause your hair extensions to become damaged or dry.

3. What type of hair is Lilyhair?
Unlike other brands who use the so-called ‘remy hair’ that the most of which actually are fallen hair from the hair salons with no aligned roots or the unidirectional cuticles that ultimately call for the acid bath to remove the cuticles which is extremely hazardous to the hair and would make your hair extension extremely fragile. LilyHair virgin hair is of the highest quality with the cuticles kept intact and hair strands being thicker and stronger. The cuticles would remain intact wash after wash and tangle-free throughout its lifetime.

4. What Hair Products Should I Use?
Remember don’t use strong shampoos that contain chemicals and sulphate, and choose a mild shampoo which can moisturize your hair. Leave in conditioners are another important part of hair care, but don’t go overboard with the products.

5. Can People Tell When I Wear Hair Extensions?
Absolutely not, considered that you blended your hair perfectly. Even you get amazingly voluminous and long hair, and everybody just feel envious.

6. Can I color, tone, or bleach my tape-in hair extensions?
You may color, tone, or bleach your tape-in hair extensions, because they are 100% human hair. But we do not recommend bleaching your lilyhair as they have already been dyed at our manufacture, and forcing bleach on hair that has already been dyed can be difficult.

If you truly want to bleach your tape-in hair extensions, please consider our virgin hair with natural color and not color-treated before. If you would like to dye your hair, please opt for a lighter set to dye darker, rather than a darker set to bleach lighter.

And please be reminded that never try to dye the set yourself at home. Get yourself a professional hair colorist, ideally, someone who has had previous experience working with hair extensions. Test a small piece first before you decide to dye the extensions is always recommended.

My little sister has been considering getting hair extensions this July before her wedding. Her natural hair just isn’t long enough to do all of the pretty wedding hairstyles she likes. So, is good to know that non-Remy human hair is cheaper.
