Why Do Wigs Get Tangled?
First, let us explore why your wigs get tangled. In fact, whether you’re wearing human hair wigs or synthetic wigs, they will tangle up at times. Hair texture, the quality of wigs, maintenance method and your lifestyle can all contribute to matting.
1. Poor quality wigs
The synthetic covering fibers are from plastics, polymer, or so. They are prone to tangling. And the over-processed human hair wigs are also easy to become tangled when exposed to water, high temperatures and even weather conditions.
2. Not taking care of your wig well
Your wig is more likely to tangle if you don’t maintain it well. You will wash it regularly with soft shampoo and conditioner. Also, you need to keep it store in the right place.
Chemical damage
Simply put, the more you wig has been treated, the higher the risk that it will tangle.
4. Dryness
Wigs lack the natural oils of natural hair. This makes a big difference in the tangling sector, as these oils often help smooth and soften hair, preventing many tangling problems caused by dryness.
How To Datangle A Wig (Human Hair Wig or Synthetic Wig)?
Here’s what you will need:
◆ a wide-tooth/ fine-tooth comb
◆ a spray bottle
◆ fabric softener for synthetic wig
◆ Hair conditioner for human hair wig
Step 1: Pour cold water into the basin. If the wig is too dirty, put it in warm water and add a little shampoo to the water. Remember not to overheat it to prevent damage to your hair. Leave the unit in solution for about 10-15 minutes.
Step 2: Rinse with cold water. Gently press the wig with a towel to absorb water. Finish after it no longer drip from the unit.
Step 3: Fill 3/4 of the spray bottle with water. Hair conditioner was then added to fill the rest of the bottle (add fabric softener if it is synthetic wig). Your goal is to exchange 3 parts of water for 1 part of hair conditioner (fabric softener). Shake the mixture well.
Step 4: Spray the mixture evenly to the wig rather than overspray. Let it absorb for a few minutes.
Step 5: Use a wide tooth to comb the wig from bottom to top. When detangling a wig, always start with a small part at the bottom of the wig, then gradually work your way up until you have combed through and detangled each section. Excessive combing and pulling of hair can cause wigs to loose.
Step 6: If your wig has bangs, use a fine-tooth comb to untangle them and place them the way you want. If you have a wavy / curly wig, it is recommended to use your fingers to maintain a curly look.
Step 7: Give your wig a final rinse. And let it air dry.
